Revisiting Bird Seed

I had forgotten how much I love bird seed outdoors. 

I found a huge bag of the stuff at Costco for around $15. 

We filled indoor and outdoor sensory bins.

(Note: don't do this if you don't enjoy the sound of birds. They will noisily inhabit your yard for weeks afterward!)

Robot Paintings

Random metal stuff from the junk drawer and cups and trays of metallic paint made for a fun exploration in robot painting!  And, of course, it was fun to see how they put their own spin on the activity.  Having a model for an activity does children such a disservice. Their ideas always go beyond my wildest imaginings!

A month's worth of blog posts (all in one!)

when life gets crazy, i stop blogging, and that's just what's happened the past month.

but i thought i'd catch you up on some of our recent activities. 

luckily i sometimes remember to take photos.

here's what we've been up to lately...i'll link up to the original idea so you can be inspired like i was when i saw the amazing blog posts that got me through the past few weeks.

we recycled milk jugs to make watering cans (and we wore our pajamas on a couple of days)

(these made the magic happen--we have sprouts in the garden already!)

we used celery to paint flowers

we have used toilet paper tubes...

...to make flower stamps

...to make birds (look closely to see them on the branches!)

...and to make bird feeders

we wet felted our own little eggs

we made flowers random stuff with tissue paper

we celebrated earth day

we continued to work on our Jackson Pollack inspired painting (we've been working on it for weeks now)

we used our new billy boards to slide down dirt hills

we made more birds out of recycled plastic reels

 (here is te's "alien flamingo")

we made origami newspaper pots and watching the seeds sprout!

and best of all, we ROCKED OUT!!!

This month has been packed full of fun activities, but that leaves little time for blogging.
